Sheldon was up to a lot of silliness all through December. I forgot to take pictures of some of his best work, but I did get a few.

The kids kept leaving food for him to eat when we were gone. Sometimes he ate it, sometimes he didn't.

The next morning Sheldon appeared.

He is a sneaky little thing! Every night he moves to a new place. They are so excited every morning to see where he is hiding.

We went to Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge the last weekend in October (yes, I'm very behind). The leaves were still so pretty!

We spent the night at Wilderness of the Smokies where they have an indoor water park. It was so much fun! I will warn you though to make sure you are in EXCELLENT PHYSICAL CONDITION before you go because all of the stairs you have to climb to the slides will flat wear you out!

My Little Seamstress

Claire mentioned several times that she wanted to learn to sew. My sister-in-law, Amy, is a wonderful seamstress, and I am NOT. SO...she asked Claire to spend the night with her one Friday night. They worked all evening and the next morning. The result was a beautiful dress! Claire did almost all of the work herself, and she was so proud!

The Good, The Bad, And The Very Ugly

Way back in October, we set out on a trip to Greensboro, North Carolina to visit my cousin Krista with some other friends.

That was good.

On Saturday morning, we went to Hunter's football game. Parker and Claire danced with the cheerleaders out on the field. That was also good.

Sometime during the ballgame I started to feel a little queasy. That was bad. Then we went to McDonald's for lunch and went back to Krista's house. As the day went on, I just felt awful. That was very, very bad. By dinner, I was downright sick.

At some point I ceased taking pictures because I was sick as a dog and went to bed. You might think it couldn't get much worse than that, but you would be wrong. Dead wrong. Right after Parker went to bed, he got sick. VERY, VERY SICK. That is where the ugly came into the picture. I am here to tell you that there in nothing worse than being sick at SOMEONE ELSE'S house while also taking care of a VERY sick child at SOMEONE ELSE'S house (without any help because Brian wasn't with us on the trip). Needless to say, we were up all night.

Thank goodness there are no pictures of me because speaking of ugly....

I felt so bad that I didn't get to visit with them that much and we spread germs all over the house! While there's no way you could have convinced me at 4:30 am that night/morning that survival was a possibility, we did in fact survive. And that my friends, was good.

Until the following Wednesday when Claire got sick.

For my birthday, Brian and I went to Knoxville. The first day we ate lunch at Abuelo's then I got to shop ~ YAY! Dinner at Altruda's of course! I can't believe I didn't take any pictures of the food! Ha!

The next day we went to the UT game. We had a lot of fun even if I did freeze!

Claire plays school all the time. I spent my whole childhood playing school, so I'm excited to see her enjoying it too! I always get so tickled at "who" she chooses for her students.

Claire was part of the spectacular Kindergarten performance at the PTA program the other night at school.

She also enjoyed showing off her artwork that was on display.

Parker got a very special award at the meeting too. His artwork was chosen to be part of the school cookbook that is being created. Of course, I'm not at all surprised because he is an amazing artist!

They were very excited to have Nana there to see them perform and receive the award.

I'm so very proud of them!

We have a new little friend at our house. This is Robert the Caterpillar. We've had him for a couple of weeks and have enjoyed taking care of him.

Saturday morning, we came downstairs to find him hanging in his "J" so we knew the time was near for him to change into his cocoon.

Labor Day Weekend 2011

Friday night we went to Italian Village ~YAHOO! Delicious!

Then went home to give little Maxaroni and Cheese a bath.

Saturday and Sunday we spent a lot of time visiting with Brian's aunt and uncle from Lexington. They brought their granddaughter Nina, so the kids loved playing and swimming with her for two days.

Sunday evening, we went to Mark and Amy's with a bunch of family. A few family members missed Parker and Claire's baptism, so they wanted to see it. Amy even got them a special baptism present and made a special dessert for the occasion.

Last Weekend

The baptism was definitely the highlight of our weekend, but we had some other fun events too. Friday night, we enjoyed some night swimming. Our swim time is limited, so we're enjoying it while we can.

Parker & Claire have been asking to sleep downstairs in the family room. We finally agreed on Friday night. We TOTALLY expected that they wouldn't last more than an hour or so down there by themselves. Parker was very apprehensive, but stuck it out because he knew how badly his sister wanted to spend the night downstairs. Besides one 1:30 a.m. adventure (that I slept through) to go to the bathroom ~ both of them ~ it all went very smoothly.

Saturday, we went to Asheville for the day. Brian took the kids to play at Chuck E. Cheese while I went to the mall and my beloved Home Goods. Then we went downtown for dinner. We ate at a cute little restaurant called Mayfel's. It was really good!

We even had beignets!

Then we walked around for a while.

There was a church singing and doing a flag/dance presentation. We stopped to watch it for a while.

I'm always happy to see these little people being so sweet to each other unprompted.

Of course, it eventually turned into this...but it was nice while it lasted!

It was such a special time, and I've just been praising God all day that both of my children love Jesus and asked Him into their hearts a while back. They both understand baptism and really wanted to do it. I am just so proud!!!

A Night At The Fair

We made our yearly trip to the fair this week. It's not a trip to the fair, my friends, without at visit to the cow barn (and the reptile house and the barnyard nursery for that matter). I love how that cow posed for my picture too.

We had a busy but fun weekend! After cleaning the house Saturday morning, we decided to head to Wetlands. It was really fun! This is the only picture I took because I was too busy slipping and sliding down all of those water slides.

Sunday after church we had the pleasure of accompanying Miss Lucy Cate during her first trip to La Caretta. She seemed to enjoy it.

Later, we went to the park for a couple of hours. Yes, Parker did wear those silly glasses...

I just wish the weekends didn't fly by so quickly!

The Way I See It, I'm Raising Him Right

If you know Parker very well at all, then you know he loves Keith Urban. He thinks he's super cool with his guitar, tattoos, and short sleeved shirts. If you know his mama very well (Parker's mama, not Keith's mama), then you know I love almost all country music. For Parker's birthday, he got tickets to see his idol in concert. Friday night was the night.

We knew our seats would be pretty high up, but glory be we might has well been hanging from a hot-air balloon. It took a sweet forever to climb up to our seats that were ALMOST at the very top of Thompson-Boling Arena. That's wasn't the bad part. It was very, very, very steep. Parker was less than thrilled.

But he got used to it eventually!

About half-way through the concert, we moved to WAY better, closer seats.

The concert was really fabulous! He sang so many songs and interacted with the crowd more than anybody I've ever seen in concert. We all loved it!

1st Day of School

It's official! Both of my babies are in elementary school! How time flies! Claire started Kindergarten and Parker started 3rd grade. They both love their teachers and have friends in their classes.

Max's Surgery

Max had his special "big boy surgery" about a week and a half ago. He did well, but out of thirty dogs that had surgery that day, he and another sheltie were the only two that had to wear the special collar. He just couldn't stop "checking things out" so he had to wear it for about a week. Bless his little heart!

On the way home from Orlando, we stopped in Savannah. Brian and I really enjoyed our visit there back in early April. I am a little obsessed with this fountain!
